Getting to Know New York City

The city of New York is on the east coast of which country, what are its five boroughs?

Manhattan (the most beautiful and the place to visit all landmarks as Times Square, Central Park)

Brooklyn: Artsy, Home of the Brooklyn Bridge and tons of hipster hoods.

Queens: Nationally recognized for its outreach and diversity otherwise identified by the food scene as well as culture fests.

Bronx: The Bronx Zoo, and Yankee Stadium.

Staten Island: Famous for its beautiful parks and the Staten Island Ferry.

Such a city, full of people and lights and sounds all the time is very different at each hour. New York is known for its crowded streets, but you will find peace in Parks of New York City, historic structures and hidden places.

Top Places to Visit in New York

There are many things to see and do in New York, but here I come with the essentials any newcomer should not miss.

Times Square

Times Square—dubbed the “Crossroads of the World”—is a spectacle, with its neon lights, oversized billboards and international atmosphere. There is a light in the atmosphere Come at night if you want to see all of the lights or avoid them during the day when it overflows with street performers and people taking pictures.

Statue de la Liberté et Ellis Island

The Statue of Liberty as Global Symbol for freedom is the most famous statue in the world. From Battery Park, you can also take a ferry to the island: to go and beyond that even climb it up into its crown. On the nearby Ellis Island, millions of immigrants entered the U.S. for the first time over a century ago.

Central Park

The park is a great respite for the busy streets of Manhattan. In Central Park, there are walk paths and ponds each with ponds that have gardens in the center for picnics. You can also refresh by renting a bike or taking horse-drawn carriage ride. It provides an ice rink for skating in the winter and free open-air concerts throughout the summer.

Empire State Building

It looks out over the city in a way that only the Empire State Building does — like you might jump off of it and go flying. You can visit the observation decks on floors 86 or floor 102 and look out over all of NYC. Even more gorgeous at sunset when the city lights start to twinkle.

Brooklyn Bridge

Head across the Brooklyn Bridge for! incredible views of Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty Great photo op, especially at sunrise or sunset (until you get run over by a bike) connects Manhattan to Brooklyn

The Met: The Metropolitan Museum of Art

A much-covered olive at one of the largest and most popular museums in the world, The Met (otherwise known as Metropolitan Museum, New York) houses art from across centuries all over this word-long journey. Whether you’re an aficionado of ancient Egyptian artifacts or contemporary American paintings, the museum has something to interest everyone.

10 Unique Neighborhoods in New York City

New York is made up of four other places (also with distinct personalities) and discovering them can be as much fun.

The neighborhood that birthed the counterculture, Greenwich Village is rich with history, independent businesses and quaint cafes. Good for leisurely walking around Check out Washington Square Park where musicians, artists and street performers gather to show off their talents.

SoHo

If you’re on the hunt for art galleries, trendy shops and chic boutiques head to SoHo – short for South of Houston Street. A shopping haven which only has something for everyone with high end brands and quirky stalls. SoHo ALSO offers plenty of amazing restaurants and coffee shops to explore.

Chinatown

Chinatown: Taste of China There are lots of Chinese restaurants, markets and bakeries. And if you go there during the year, then by goodness, they have collective shields in some of their shops that promise a variety of unique souvenirs and herbal shops like whatchamacallits and whatnot (and did I mention tots-tots) plus historical Chinese festivals which…(drink solution).
